Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi! Review

[Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi! Cover]

Dust off you dancing feet! Enigma has released its long and eagerly awaited third album, Enigma 3. Having been a passionate fan of Enigma since their first release low these many years ago, it should come as no surprise that I find their latest album to be totally, awesomely cool. Evoking the signature sounds that have made them one of the most loved groups in the world, yet also crafting the freshest of hot melodic hooks and the most timely of messages, Enigma continues to define sophisticated world-beat music at its most exotic.

Somehow perfectly scripted to mirror the seemingly relentless, endless changes that our Internet-savvy world is rolling toward, Enigma 3 asks important questions while providing enormously entertaining, potently exotic tracks that seep unbidden into the deepest recesses of our psyche, churning the old while making way for the new. Enigma 3 is perfect for slipping on a set of headphones and setting sail for that undiscovered country that lies beyond all we have known. It's also perfect for rolling back the rug and letting your dancing feet run berserk, as their trademark world-beat punch cooks you into a frenzy of primeval movement.

As with previous releases, Michael Cretu is credited with pretty much everything - no wonder it sounds like Enigma. The booklet accompanying the CD is so cutting edge it will definitely raise eyebrows: but isn't that what eyebrows are for? Favorite tracks include Morphing Through Time, Why, The Child in Us and Odyssey of the Mind though, as you might imagine, every track is delightfully puissant. For all those who love Enigma, or think you might come to, Enigma 3 is a must have.
